International Summer School of Young Lecturers and Scholars in Social Sciences “Society in Transition: Metamorphoses of Culture”
The Sociology Faculty of V.N.Karazin Kharkov National University (Ukraine) and East Ukrainian Foundation for Social Research with financial support by HESP OSI and IRF (Soros Foundation in Ukraine) will be conducting the International Summer School of Young Lecturers and Scholars in Social Sciences. Summer School will be held on September 10-30, 2000 (the date is subject for slight changes) in Yalta (Crimea, Ukraine).
The work of the Summer School will be arranged by way of plenary Sessions, Seminars, and Workshops. During the plenary sessions the School participants will attend lectures and seminars on the concepts and structure of the courses, methods of teaching those and the contents of the key subjects.
There are courses on the problems will be lectured during the School:
Post-Soviet Socio-Cultural Dynamics;
Cultural Polyphony: Voices of Social Groups;
Globalization of Culture;
Cultural Barriers on the Way of Reforms;
Metamophoses of Economic Culture;
Political Culture in Transitional Society
The offered courses will be delivered by leading professors and researchers from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and West Europe.
Working languages of the Summer School - Russian, Ukrainian, English.
Young Social Science Scholars (until 30 years old) are invited to participate in the Summer School. The participants will be selected on the basis of their application materials, which must be sent to the address of the Summer School. A complete application should consist of:
A completed application form with a passport-size photograph (application form);
Recommendation (form)
The syllabus of the course (not published previously) and/or the program of research, scientific paper (not published previously) on the topic of the School.
Best of the syllabi received will be published.
The materials should not exceed 10 pages (with interval 1,5). They should be sent on a floppy-disk (3,5’’) in MS-DOS or Microsoft Word format, and in one carbon copy; all references and bibliography should be in the end of the text.
It is allowed to send the materials via e-mail as an attachment in Word format.
The deadline is June 1, 2000.
The School will cover the transportation costs (within the Ukraine) and accomodation.
